SRAM saw the opportunity to make a better press fit system where all the best from BB30 and PressFit bottom brackets would be combined into one captivating package. Pressfit 30 will feature an integrated seal, pre-assembled into the cups, to further prolong bearing life. The key difference with Pressfit 30 is how the bearings are fitted into the frame. Bearings are housed in nylon cups which will be pressed into the frames bottom bracket shell. This bottom bracket is designed for 30mm spindle cranksets. Frames will need a 46mm inner-diameter bottom bracket shell to accommodate this system. The BSA (English threaded) bottom bracket is a traditional shell size. It has an inner diameter of 34mm and is 68mm wide. These cups thread into the BSA shell, making it possible to install SRAM and Quarq 24/22mm cranks. The CeramicSpeed kit comes with bearings pressed into threaded cups, which are then threaded into the frame. Those bearings consist of either CeramicSpeed Standard or Coated Bearings. Super smooth, super-round CeramicSpeed balls are rotating in hardened-steel races in both. The Coated version has a metallic coating laid onto the races, making it even smoother and harder, resulting in longer life and lower drag. The cups come with bearings installed, and a sleeve is included to further seal the system from the elements and keep it from rubbing on internal cables. The Standard Bearings have only 0.3-0.4 watts of frictional drag per set, an average drag reduction of 75% compared to stock bottom brackets. This is the result of superior design, including hardened-steel races and ceramic balls that are 100% smoother and 15% harder than the ceramic competition. They also last 3x longer. Coated Bearings last even longer and feature even lower drag. Life is boosted by 60% and drag plummets by 50% compared to our Standard.
